Hi readers! Thank you so much for your continued support and reading of TQB blog! It means so much to me as a writer and reader!
I’m beginning a new tradition on the blog titled Beach Bum Monday. My favorite place to be, other than with family, is the ocean! I love the whole experience-seafood, drinks, sun, sand, waves, the smell of coconut sunscreen, and bare feet with newly painted toes in flip flops. If that is you as well, then you might enjoy the list of books* I will be posting each Monday. I love relaxing with a good beach book to help calm the mind and spirit. Several books reviewed on this blog have strong topics, and I try to remember to mention in the reviews if they are, so you don’t pick up an intense read when not prepared or wanting to do so. They have a time and place, but if you’re like me, it’s not something to be indulged in every day.
I love creating and sharing booklists. I will admit that as a librarian it makes me a little nervous because the books mentioned on the blog are ones that I hope meet reader’s expectations and not mentions I will be regretting later. I read a lot, and not just books, but about authors themselves. I also enjoy sharing articles on my blog for when I read additional information on the book review posted.

Emily Henry is a wildly successful author. My favorite trait of Henry’s is that she stays true to herself. She writes what she chooses, and not what others expect for her genre. Her female leads are strong, and I think that is also a reflection of Henry as a person. Her special collector’s edition of Beach Read, set to publish on October 1, 2024, is stunning. It includes an introduction by the author and a bonus January and Gus epilogue. Her latest new published work, A Funny Story (April 2024) has over 125,000 reviews on Goodreads and a 4.5-star review. A Funny Story was selected as a Most Anticipated Book of 2024 from TIMES magazine. Meg Mitchell Moore is a true classic. I’m currently reading Summer Stage (published May 2023) and loving it. I love the way she organizes her novels and how each character’s voice is heard throughout the story. Each is very distinct and what makes her writing so real and relatable. I read her bio, and it’s no surprise she’s a former journalist. The author’s website is available at https://www.megmitchellmoore.com/.

The duo Liv Constantine writes addictive summer thrillers, perfect for a weekend escape. I’m looking forward to reading The Next Mrs. Parrish, which is the sequel to the Last Mrs. Parrish. The novel is set to be released on June 18th, 2024. Their most recent published work, The Senator’s Wife (March 2024), is available here. The author’s website is available at https://livconstantine.com/.

Elin Hilderbrand is a household name in regard to beachy novels. Her latest published novel, The Five-Star Weekend, is available here. Swan Song is set to published on June 11, 2024 and is available for preorder here.

Mary Kay Andrews is my favorite Lowcountry author. I think if I met her in person, I would just adore her. Her novels never disappoint. Her newest novel, Summers at the Saint (May 2024), is available here.

Nancy Thayer loves libraries and bookstores. Same, Nancy, same. She’s lived on Nantucket Island for nearly 4 decades. I’m a little jealous because one thing we don’t have in common is that where I live no beach is to be found for hundreds of miles. For now, I’ll just have to settle on reading about fictional lives in Nantucket, which Thayer crafts brilliantly. Her latest novel, The Summer We Started Over, is available here.
